Week 5 CST 300

Part 1: I commented on Dakota and Mohamed blogs and you can see my comments on the blogs below.  Dakota: https://dakotacsonline.blogspot.com/2024/05/week-4.html Mohamed:  https://mothmancsumb.blogspot.com/2024/05/cst-300-week-4.html Part 2:  One project idea I would want to pursue would be to develop a mobile game, a game that will challenge me to become a better programmer and allow me to showcase all the skills I have learned. A second project idea I would want to pursue would be a data analytics program, a program that provides companies with basic data analytics solutions that they can customize to fit their specific needs without having to pay for an expensive program built specifically for them.  A third project idea I would want to pursue would be a website for a small company that does not yet have one so that they can reach more customers. This would allow me to make an impact on the community and also allow me to test the skills I will acquire of the ...

Week 4 CST 300

Part 1: My goal in the CS program is to finish with a 3.8 GPA, and receive an A on my capstone project. I believe that both of these smaller goals will give me the ability to reach a larger end goal of going to graduate school for computer science. Part 2: My career goal after completing my Computer Science degree is to achieve a salary of $100,000, I feel like this a good number to achieve and will mean all my hard work has paid off.  Part 3: I think I will score in the 90th percentile, the test looks very similar to tests I have taken in the past and contains a large amount of pseudocode questions. I enjoy figuring out pseudocode and finding to solution with the code already provided, the test looks difficult but not so difficult that I couldn't do well. Part 4: This week was heavily focused on ethics and preparing for our ethics debate paper. I learned about types of claims this week like fact based arguments and definition based arguments. Knowing what kind of argument yo...

Week 3 CST 300

Part 1:  The website gave many great time management tips like skimming a document before thoroughly reading it to see if it is actually worth reading or not, this would save large amounts of time reading pieces that you won't actually use. I also found that for some of the sections of the website like note taking tips that it offered multiple ways of taking notes but it is important to find what works best for you so that your note taking actually helps you learn. Finding a style that fits what you want to do and how you learn is important for success in school. This site also gave me more insight into an area that I mentioned I struggled with last week which was test taking strategies, I often feel underprepared for a test despite having studied for it. This site talks about the areas outside of studying that can help prepare you for test taking like getting ready in the morning and reviewing notes to keep it fresh in your mind even if you aren't sitting down to study for a l...

Summary of Lecture Material: Introduction to Project Management:   Projects are an important part of businesses and any team. In order for a project to be an actual project it must have a timeline, an understanding of what it will cost, and an end goal. Projects are when people are working toward a specific outcome with a specified outcome. There are numerous reasons why a company will begin a project, such as new regulations or improvement on current business models, and once a project has begun the company will decide which projects will receive funds and which ones are of higher priority. Many businesses think of projects as investments and so management will select which projects can be postponed or discarded. The project manager is in charge of ensuring that a project is successful, and must work within the constraints given by the company. Project managers must be accountable which means they need to commit and to deliver on the project. It is also there job to keep eve...
