Week 7 CST 300
Part 1: Our team did a very good job of collaborating with each other on the presentation, most of our communication and collaboration was done via zoom where we are able to establish roles. Given Dakota's knowledge on the topic of visualization he has taken much of the lead on the research and structure of content. The process has been very smooth but next time on larger projects we will try to establish firm timelines to make our project a more efficient operation.
Part 2: One of the ted talk videos I chose talks about non-experts contributing to the growth of AI are just as important as those actually developing the systems themselves. People using AI need to be responding to the things that they like and dislike about it so that the product can improve and reach its full potential. This is a very interesting point as AI has limitless capabilities but only if people are willing to use the system so catering it to the consumers needs should be the most important part of developing AI. The second post I chose was about eco-friendly farming and the speaker touched on the current methods used by farmers for producing the ingredients for high in demand items such as biscuits. Pohl also takes about how these methods are hurting the planet and about the importance of adopting more sustainable methods even if there is a drop in production. This is a very important topic as the importance of farming can't be overstated, but understanding the impact that tilling, planting, and replanting takes a toll on the earth and trying to balance preservation with demand is a hard task.
I learned a lot about presentations and presentation skills this week, the proper way to make a powerpoint contained a lot of common sense ideas but also helped me understand that some times simplicity is better than trying to create something that becomes too distracting. Most of the lecture material this week gave names to things I already knew about but also enlightened me to larger broader themes for a good presentation that I will definitely use for the upcoming presentation.
