Week 2 CST 338

For homework 1 one of the hardest unit tests to pass for me was the sort test, most of my methods were working properly but so many of them rely on the sort method that I wasn't passing many of the tests. I realized later on that I wasn't defining the hashmap so if there was noting in it it would not return properly. Once I had sort working many of the other tests came much easier. Something that I was proud of was building the histogram display method and getting it to properly display using stringbuilder. The first week was a fun and challenging week, I learned a lot about java and was able to brush up on some of my basic programming skills while learning the syntax and some of the benefits OOP has to offer. Many of the assignments came easy once I figured out the proper calls and methods that are associated with string and map.

Week 8 CST 300

Part 1: JKO: Public Video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AExRg0XpvCI Professional Video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBUQ63qQjGk JKO did a great job on their videos, they were clear and the teamwork was obvious, the public video could have felt less professional but the professional video was spot on with it's presentation. The videos are informative which makes me think that they did adequate research and were knowledgable on the topic. Both videos are well produced but neither was particularly engaging although I did enjoy the conversations had in both. Overall, they did a very good job on their videos but could have had a little more fun while producing them. Terrabit Solutions: Public Video: https://youtu.be/Ps1hElV-MJs Professional Video: TerraBit Solutions | Quantum Computing in Cryptography    Terrabit solutions videos are educational and both feel adequately aimed at the right audience,  the public video did feel a tad bit mechanical which ...

Week 7 CST 300

Part 1: Our team did a very good job of collaborating with each other on the presentation, most of our communication and collaboration was done via zoom where we are able to establish roles. Given Dakota's knowledge on the topic of visualization he has taken much of the lead on the research and structure of content. The process has been very smooth but next time on larger projects we will try to establish firm timelines to make our project a more efficient operation.  Part 2: One of the ted talk videos I chose talks about non-experts contributing to the growth of AI are just as important as those actually developing the systems themselves. People using AI need to be responding to the things that they like and dislike about it so that the product can improve and reach its full potential. This is a very interesting point as AI has limitless capabilities but only if people are willing to use the system so catering it to the consumers needs should be the most important part of de...

Week 6 CST 300

Part1: All of my group members had great ideas two that really stuck out to me were the virtual or augmented reality classroom for underdeveloped and understaffed school districts and an augmented reality app that helps learn foreign languages. Both of these ideas deal with using an AR or VR headset which is a new and quickly expanding piece of technology that would be interesting to develop an app for but also provide practical services for people that need them. Overall we have a long way to go before we have any concrete decisions made but we have numerous good ideas like these that would make for good capstone projects.  Part 2: This week I learned about the proper way to build a resume and cover letter for programming jobs. Although I have made resumes in the past and have written cover letters, I have never had formal teaching on the matter. There were lots of helpful tips and pointers in this weeks lecture material. I also learned about the proper way to paraphrase and...
